By: TeX Time: 20080516 2316Z Music: None While doing my checks, I noticed that craty2 is down. Emailed the north, asking if I can just turn it on, or must stop the run first. 0018Z Ethan says supernova is separate, so can do craty2 powerup. 0026Z System crate has a red 'SYSFAIL' led lit. The system boots, but cannot find a boot disk. External drives are powered on, but I don't know if there is an internal disk? External hard drives are powered on. Hmm... unfortunate. We'll need a 50-pin SCSI drive to replace a bad one. Those aren't in large supply. Alternately, I found a couple of HD68-to-IDC50 adapters in the cabinet that might work if we have any 68-pin drives (perhaps in the workstation spares cabinet in the ICL) and if is enough room in the external SCSI case for it. I do not recall seeing any SCA adapters anywhere. There should be a few 50-pin drives here in B2; I've made a point of making sure they don't get retroed or discarded. We'll need to coordinate with the folks at Mainz as to what they would like loaded on the disk. Craty is running RedHat 9.3. I am not certain where to lay hands on installation media. At least the present incarnation of SN is robust enough to run with only craty running. A few years ago, this would have been catastrophic. > Is there a contact person for this system? Thomas Kowarik is the person who usually pings us about stuff... thomas.kowarik@googlemail.com Other guys I know who are associated with SN are: Timo Griesel Alexander Piegsa -ethan Music is now: Peaches
